Why do we have the freeport?

The freeport is an economic sector implemented:

  • To diversify the Mauritius economy
  • To Place Mauritius as a regional Distribution, Logistics and Marketing Pptform in the Indian Ocean.
  • To take advantage of the Trade Agreement (bi-lateral & Multilateral and of the prederential market access.
    Eg. COMESA, SADC, AGOA, EU-ACP
